Our vision

We believe in a data-driven approach to decision-making, we think it can improve the quality of public service and reduce inequalities.
However, data can be used to do more than simply mesure past actions, it can predict the future!
This challenge focuses on helping the ATO (Australian Taxation Office) identify high-potential locations for new tax help centres. In this project we have used data from the ATO to predict the distribution of income in Australia postcode by postcode in 2021. We have then used this data to determine locations that will benefit the most from a new tax help centre. Our results are displayed in an interactive map where the ATO can adjust parameters to balance two concerns: bringing their services to the highest number of australians and focus on low income suburbs.
